en.Wedoany.com Reported - IDEA Logistics, an Istanbul-based logistics company, recently successfully transported a gas turbine weighing approximately 160 tons, along with its auxiliary equipment, from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to a project site in Turkey.

The main body of the gas turbine measures 21 meters by 4.5 meters by 5.35 meters and weighs about 160 tons. During transport, the main unit was carried on a hydraulic multi-axle trailer, while the remaining components were loaded onto shipper-owned containers (SOC) and nine low-bed trailers.

Due to congestion at other ports in Saudi Arabia, the project cargo was rerouted through Yanbu Port. This resulted in a total overland transport distance of approximately 2,000 kilometers from Riyadh. The overall transport height reached about 6.3 meters, prompting the transporter to plan alternative roads and detours to avoid height-restricted sections and narrow passages along the route. Throughout the process, IDEA Logistics closely coordinated the road segments and the entire operation from the origin to vessel loading at the port.

Upon arrival at Yanbu Port, the main unit, SOC containers, and cargo on the nine low-bed trailers were loaded onto the same vessel for shipment to Haydarpaşa Port in Istanbul.

After unloading at Haydarpaşa Port, continuous road access to the final project site in Turkey was not feasible due to the turbine's excessive transport height. Consequently, the hydraulic trailer carrying the turbine was not unloaded but was driven directly onto a ferry for sea transport to another port closer to the customer's facility. Upon arrival, the unit was delivered using the same trailer configuration.
