en.Wedoany.com Reported - Gyeonggi Province's Yangju City announced that the construction of the new Hoechon Central Station on Line 1 of the Gyeongwon Line has officially commenced to improve transportation convenience for residents following the development of the Hoechon area. The total project investment amounts to 107.7 billion KRW. Key facilities include a station building and platforms spanning two floors above ground, an underground connecting passage, and an auxiliary parking lot with a capacity of 310 vehicles. According to a delegation agreement signed in July 2020, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) bears the project costs, the Korea National Railway (KR) is responsible for project implementation, Yangju City covers operational expenses, and the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) manages train operations.

The project was originally scheduled to open in 2024, but during the design phase, a traffic impact assessment necessitated the addition of an auxiliary parking lot, and delays occurred due to prolonged negotiations over increased project costs. The total project cost negotiation was completed in July last year, the construction contractor was selected in February this year, and the implementation plan was approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) in May. Construction officially began following the acceptance of the construction commencement notification. Yangju City anticipates that, if the project proceeds normally, it is expected to open for operation in 2030.

Yangju Mayor Jeong Deok-young stated, "I find it significant to convey the official start of construction to the citizens who have been waiting for the commencement of Hoechon Central Station. Going forward, we will work closely with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth progress of the project and strive for its timely opening."
