Measuring approximately 115 meters in length and weighing around 2,200 tonnes, this monopile is among the largest and heaviest ever produced in Europe, marking a notable advancement in offshore wind infrastructure.
A Steelwind spokesperson stated: “With a length of around 115 metres and a weight of around 2200 tonnes, this monopile is not only the largest and heaviest that Steelwind has ever produced, but also one of the largest and heaviest monopiles ever produced in Europe. In February, Steelwind announced a €50 million investment to upgrade its Nordenham-Blexen factory, aiming to increase production capacity to meet the rising need for offshore wind components. The expansion includes enhancing machinery to manufacture monopiles with diameters up to 11.5 meters by the second half of 2026. This investment reflects Steelwind’s commitment to scaling its operations to support the offshore wind sector’s growth.
