en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 100-day decisive battle campaign for Phase I (Main Trunk Section) of the Qaidam Basin Water Resources Allocation Project in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, was officially launched on July 6, 2026. China South-to-North Water Diversion Group Qinghai Company awarded banners to four assault teams, calling on all builders to uphold the plateau fighting spirit and strive to create a "lifeline of water" on the plateau.

Phase I of the Qaidam Basin Water Resources Allocation Project is the supporting water supply project for the Nalenggele River Water Control Project, one of China's 172 key water-saving and water supply projects, and also constitutes one of the "vertical axes" in Qinghai Province's "five horizontal and five vertical" water network layout. The total investment of the project is approximately 11.497 billion yuan, with a water conveyance line spanning 593 kilometers. It draws water from the Nalenggele River Water Control Project and uses gravity flow to supply water to circular economy industrial parks in Golmud, Mangnai, Lenghu, and other areas. The entire route is at an altitude exceeding 3,000 meters, with full completion planned for 2029. Upon completion, the project will provide an annual water supply of 237 million cubic meters, effectively ensuring water security for key sectors such as the salt lake industry and potash fertilizer production.

The 100-day decisive battle campaign has established three core objectives: "accelerate progress, ensure safety, and strengthen quality." It has deployed construction tasks and assessment scoring standards for post-dam pipeline installation, tunnel lining, electromechanical installation, and surge chamber lining. Since the project's construction began, several phased achievements have been made: Tunnels 1 to 4 of the main trunk line have been successfully connected, 53 kilometers of pipeline installation have been completed, the main and auxiliary powerhouse frames of the energy dissipation station have been topped out, the powerhouse bridge crane has been successfully hoisted, and the excavation and support of the surge chamber have been completed.

The Qaidam Basin is known as a "treasure bowl," but it suffers from extreme aridity and a severe shortage of freshwater resources. The project is invested in and constructed by China South-to-North Water Diversion Group, marking the group's first water network project in western China. It transports high-quality water from the Nalenggele River Water Control Project to water-scarce areas, playing a significant role in optimizing regional water resource allocation, ensuring water supply for key industries, and promoting ecological restoration. The launch of this 100-day campaign will further consolidate construction efforts and drive the safe, high-quality, and efficient progress of this major water resource security project.
