During the visit to Ecuador, the delegation met with Sun Xiangyang, Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador, and held a special symposium. Zhang Chengwei expressed gratitude for the embassy's support of the bureau's overseas operations and hoped for guidance in policy information alignment, project selection, and personnel safety assurance. Sun Xiangyang acknowledged the opportunities for geological and mineral cooperation brought by the China-Ecuador joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and stated that the embassy would continue to support the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in areas such as mineral resource exploration and development and geological technical services.
During its stay in Ecuador, the delegation visited CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited Ecuador Branch, Ecuador Weiluo Oilfield Co., Ltd., Shandong Energy South America Company Ecuador Branch, and the Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce in Ecuador. Discussions focused on oil, gas, and mineral resource exploration and development in South America, exploration of key minerals such as gold and copper, and collaborative geological technical services. All parties reached preliminary cooperation intentions for jointly exploring the Ecuadorian market.
During the visit to Peru, the delegation met with He Yujie, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Peru, for a symposium on Peru's mining investment environment, local development of Chinese enterprises, and prospects for geological and mining cooperation. He Yujie stated that she would play a bridging role in commerce to help deepen China-Peru mining cooperation. The delegation visited the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, and Shandong Energy South America Company Peru Branch. At the Lima Chamber of Commerce, Zhang Chengwei proposed five initiatives: establishing long-term cooperative relations, strengthening exploration technology exchanges, providing technical consulting services, establishing a mining project information sharing mechanism, and building a multi-field cooperation and exchange platform. Both sides reached a consensus on signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. At the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, the two sides exchanged views on innovation in mineral exploration technology and talent cultivation, agreeing to strengthen academic exchanges, jointly organize technical seminars, and share cutting-edge industry achievements. At Shandong Energy South America Company Peru Branch, both sides reviewed the results of domestic project cooperation and agreed to jointly expand the South American mineral resource development market.
During the two visits, the delegation engaged with official institutions, industry associations, Chinese enterprises, and local market entities, promoted technical advantages, clarified key cooperation directions, and consolidated consensus on in-depth cooperation. Moving forward, the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources will seize this opportunity to leverage the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen its presence in the Latin American overseas market, advance cooperation in mineral resource exploration and development, geological technical services, and talent and technology exchanges, enhance its international development level, ensure energy and resource security, and serve Shandong Province's high-level opening-up.
