Among them, Chien Shing Stainless Steel reported a staggering 562.38% year-on-year increase in May revenue, reaching NT$238 million (approximately US$7.3 million), the highest growth rate in Taiwan's steel industry. Yieh United Steel's May revenue grew 21.6% month-on-month and 37.27% year-on-year, hitting a seven-month high. Tang Eng Iron Works reported May revenue of NT$1.17 billion, up 13.76% year-on-year and 22.48% month-on-month, marking its highest monthly figure since March 2023.
Additionally, Taiwan's leading stainless steel producer, Walsin Lihwa, saw its May revenue increase by 17.93% month-on-month and 21.46% year-on-year to NT$749 million. Dragon Steel's May revenue surged 53% year-on-year, with cumulative revenue for the first five months reaching NT$32.8 billion, up 16% year-on-year.
Formosa Ha Tinh Steel also announced in early July 2026 a price reduction for hot-rolled coils scheduled for shipment from August to September, lowering prices by approximately US$40 per ton. Following this adjustment, its SAE1006 grade hot-rolled coil is quoted at around US$545 per ton in Ho Chi Minh City.
Taiwan's major steelmaker, China Steel Corporation, reported a consolidated pre-tax net profit of NT$1.354 billion for May, officially turning a profit and achieving a 179% increase in profit compared to April.
