en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tommaso Foti, Italy's Minister for European Affairs, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and Cohesion Policy, inspected the construction of the new breakwater at the Port of Genoa (Puerto de Génova) and the overall investment plan for infrastructure.

The inspection aimed to assess the progress of structures designed to enhance the competitiveness of the port and the national logistics system. The new breakwater is considered one of the country's key strategic infrastructure projects, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the National Complementary Investment Plan (PNC). This project will enable the Port of Genoa to adapt to international maritime transport trends, improving navigational accessibility, navigation safety, and the capacity to accommodate the latest generation of vessels.

Matteo Paroli, President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority (Autoridad Portuaria del Mar de Liguria Occidental), stated that the inspection confirmed the progress of this complex engineering project, aimed at improving operations at the Port of Genoa. The new breakwater will ensure higher navigation safety and better maritime accessibility, allowing the port to accommodate vessels required for maritime development in its historic commercial basin. Paroli emphasized that its strategic value also lies in the fact that the new port layout will free up more operational space in existing areas, creating conditions for the development of the Sampierdarena commercial district and the strengthening of shipbuilding and repair activities. This transformation will enhance the port's overall capacity to meet the demands of the logistics and maritime industries in the coming decades.
