en.Wedoany.com Reported - The state of Saxony-Anhalt is providing approximately one million euros from the special "Infrastructure" fund for the modernization of railway infrastructure at the Chemie- und Industriepark Zeitz (Chemical and Industrial Park Zeitz).

The funds will be primarily used to modernize the railway technical facilities in the entrance area of the park, as well as the connecting line from the Tröglitz railway station to the Zeitz freight yard.

Dr. Lydia Hüskens, Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, stated upon handing over the funding notification that industry requires efficient infrastructure, not only roads but also railways. This funding will improve the connection of the Chemie- und Industriepark Zeitz, thereby consolidating an important economic location in southern Saxony-Anhalt.

The connecting line from Tröglitz station to the Zeitz freight yard links the Chemie- und Industriepark Zeitz, as a core development area, to the public network. The funds are planned to be used by the end of this year for substantial investments in the superstructure and switches in the entrance area of the chemical park and on the approximately four-kilometer-long branch line. The track sections between the new switches will also be laid.

To reduce future wear and tear from rail traffic, the area will not only be renovated but also optimized for running dynamics. In addition to the superstructure, the shunting personnel walkways will be constructed according to the latest standards to improve the safety and protection of shunting staff working in the switch areas.
