en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Bogotá Metro Line 1 project has completed the installation of 8,593 PC piles (prestressed concrete pipe piles) across the entire line over 1,013 days. As the core load-bearing foundation structure of the metro line, PC piles effectively transfer track and train loads to deep soil layers, resisting settlement and deformation, and are key to ensuring the stable operation of the metro viaduct and station structures. The first PC pile was driven on September 14, 2023, with the entire construction process adopting a self-operated and self-managed model, strictly controlling standards throughout the workflow. To date, the project has completed 8,593 PC piles, totaling 22,038 segments, with a total construction length of 304,884 linear meters. All construction indicators have met standards, and the scheduled tasks have been completed on time.

During the pile foundation construction phase, the project faced challenges such as tight schedules, large construction volumes, complex on-site organization, and simultaneous operations across multiple work fronts. The project team coordinated resource allocation, optimized construction organization plans, and implemented an integrated management mechanism for safety, quality, and progress. Over 200 professional construction personnel were deployed, strictly adhering to standardized processes including survey setting-out, pile lifting, positioning and driving, welding reinforcement, and quality inspection. Throughout construction, the team continuously summarized experiences and refined techniques, establishing a safe, controllable, efficient, and standardized pile foundation construction system, creating conditions for subsequent work.
The completion of PC pile installation across the entire line marks the end of all underground foundation framework construction for the Bogotá Metro Line 1 project, laying a solid foundation for subsequent viaduct erection and main structure construction. The project team will continue to advance high-standard construction, optimize safety, quality, and progress control, and aim to make this project a benchmark demonstration for infrastructure construction in Latin America, supporting cooperation between China and Colombia in the infrastructure sector and serving the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road."
