en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ride-hailing company Bolt has partnered with car-sharing platform Hiyacar to offer Hiyacar vehicles for booking through the Bolt app in London, with no membership fee required. The service is scheduled to launch this autumn, marking the first entry of Bolt's car-sharing business, Bolt Drive, into the UK market.
This collaboration aims to fill the mobility gap left in London after Zipcar's exit. Bolt stated that its user base covers over half of London residents, who can rent privately owned vehicles through the app, while Hiyacar continues to manage the peer-to-peer network behind the service.
The move adds a new mobility option to Bolt's existing ride-hailing, e-bike, and scooter services, while helping Hiyacar expand its user reach. Bolt noted that over 70% of its UK customers do not own a car. Research commissioned by the company shows that more than 75% of inner London residents are also car-free.
"There are a lot of idle vehicles in London, and the challenge is how to access these resources," said Don Iro, CEO of Hiyacar. "Being on the Bolt app means our vehicles are visible when people actually need them, not just to those who already know Hiyacar exists."
Founded in 2016, Hiyacar is the UK's only homegrown peer-to-peer car-sharing platform, currently with over 265,000 registered users. Bolt launched in the UK in 2019 and operates in 20 cities, offering ride-hailing as well as micromobility services such as e-bikes and scooters. The partnership with Hiyacar marks Bolt's first launch of the Bolt Drive product in the UK, following similar integrations with local mobility providers in other European regions.
