en.Wedoany.com Reported - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated on July 13, 2026, that in the second quarter of 2026, 49% of developers in Russia had applied or piloted Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in project construction. This represents a 2 percentage point increase from the first quarter. The data was disclosed by Khusnullin during a government working meeting, and the information was published on the government's official website that same day.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology provides a foundation for full lifecycle information management of engineering projects through 3D digital technology. Currently, this technology covers 84 federal subjects of Russia, accounting for over 94% of the country's total 89 regions. In terms of actual construction scale, the residential area built using BIM technology accounts for 46% of the total housing under construction nationwide. Regionally, BIM technology is most widely applied in the Central Federal District, Southern Federal District, and Ural Federal District.
The Russian government has been continuously promoting digital transformation in the construction industry in recent years. According to the "Amendment to the Russian Federation Law on Building Information Modeling," which took effect in 2022, all construction projects involving state budget funds must adopt BIM technology starting from 2023. When announcing the data, Khusnullin stated that the promotion and application of BIM technology is a crucial means for Russia's construction industry to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure quality.
Although the application of BIM technology in Russia has made significant progress, approximately 51% of developers have yet to integrate this technology into their regular workflows. As the federal government continues to advance digital transformation requirements in the construction industry, the penetration rate of BIM technology in the Russian construction market is expected to continue rising.
