en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 12, 2026, UAE-based terminal operator Gulftainer, headquartered in Sharjah, unveiled a new global trade infrastructure strategy aimed at integrating ports, shipping, inland logistics, industrial ecosystems, and AI-driven supply chains into a connected platform serving the world's fastest-growing trade corridors.
Group CEO Farid Belbouab stated that this is not merely an expansion of operations but the beginning of a new chapter in Gulftainer's history. He added that for nearly 50 years, Gulftainer has connected ports, and the next 50 years will be about connecting economies.
The plan involves linking the Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, with its future capacity of 10 million TEUs, to the combined inland logistics capacity of 2.3 million TEUs from Al Dhaid Logistics Park and Sajaa Logistics Park.
In a statement, Gulftainer said the expansion will include maritime services via GT Lines and the development of an AI-driven platform covering supply chain management, customer service, digital payments, and logistics solutions.
The company plans to operate across trade routes connecting the UAE, the Indian subcontinent, China, East Africa, and the Gulf region through four business platforms: GT Ports, GT Logistics, GT Parks, and GT Maritime.
This shift reflects changes in the global trade landscape, as companies increasingly seek integrated logistics solutions that combine physical infrastructure with digital capabilities.
Belbouab stated that the Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal (KCT) will be expanded from 3.5 million TEUs to 5 million TEUs, with a long-term target exceeding 10 million TEUs. Supporting KCT are Al Dhaid Logistics Park and Sajaa Logistics Park, which together will provide an annual inland logistics capacity of 2.3 million TEUs.
He added that these developments collectively create one of the largest integrated logistics ecosystems in the Middle East, consolidating warehousing, bonded and non-bonded storage, cold chain, contract logistics, container freight stations (CFS), distribution centers, e-commerce fulfillment, cross-docking, value-added logistics, light industrial activities, and multimodal solutions on a connected platform.
