en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Energy Market Authority of Singapore (EMA) and the Electricity and Gas Market Surveillance Commission of Japan (EGC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Singapore on July 13, under which both parties will share supervisory practices, technical expertise, and policy research to deepen regulatory cooperation in the electricity and natural gas markets.

The agreement was signed by EMA Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong and EGC Secretary-General Tatsuya Shinkawa, covering cooperation and information exchange in the natural gas and electricity markets. EMA stated that both parties will exchange knowledge on energy market supervision, regulatory design, and system stability measures, with planned activities including technical exchanges, study visits, joint research, and regular dialogues.
Puah Kok Keong noted that this cooperation is part of EMA's efforts to keep regulatory practices up to date in response to the evolving energy landscape. He said that the heads of the two regulatory bodies will continue discussions at the Regulators@SIEW event during the Singapore International Energy Week in October this year.
Tatsuya Shinkawa stated that Japan and Singapore share similar characteristics in the energy sector and face common challenges in ensuring reliable energy supply and well-functioning electricity markets. He said the agreement will strengthen cooperation, facilitate experience sharing, and support consumer protection in both countries.
