en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 14, 2026, project developer NOTUS energy and Dresden-based specialist Light:Guard signed a multi-year framework agreement to equip NOTUS's new wind farms in Germany with aviation obstacle light detection systems. The agreement covers 21 projects, totaling 83 wind turbines.

Under the agreement, Light:Guard will equip most of NOTUS's new projects with demand-controlled night marking (BNK) systems. With the BNK system, the red aviation warning lights on the wind turbines are switched off by default; the system monitors the airspace around the wind farm and only activates the lights when an aircraft approaches. Since last year, the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) has mandated the installation of BNK systems on wind turbines.

Hannes Otto, Managing Director of NOTUS energy, stated that the company aims to demonstrate care for people and nature in its projects, and equipping wind farms with BNK systems is of great significance, with Light:Guard being a reliable partner. Eileen Hänel, Sales Manager at Light:Guard, expressed that both parties intend to continue their cooperation, working together to make the night sky darker.

The two companies have been collaborating in the BNK field for several years, during which multiple existing NOTUS wind turbines have been retrofitted with Light:Guard systems. Light:Guard has been active in the BNK sector since 2008, cooperating with wind turbine manufacturers such as GE, Nordex, and Vestas, and has eliminated constant lighting on over 3,500 wind turbines in Germany. Its system uses multilateration and signal strength evaluation technology. Based in Potsdam, NOTUS energy develops, constructs, and operates wind power, solar power plants, and battery storage projects worldwide.
