en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 15, 2026, Cambium announced it will build a 60,000-square-foot facility in Mooresville, North Carolina, quadrupling the U.S. manufacturing capacity of its subsidiary, SHD Composites. The facility will vertically integrate resin mixing, film, prepreg production, and testing and development, designed from the ground up to achieve extremely fast customer response times at scale. The SHD Composites manufacturing division involved in this expansion was acquired six months ago.

The new plant in Mooresville, North Carolina, slated to begin operations later this year, is the latest step in Cambium's global expansion to supply advanced materials to defense, aerospace, high-performance motorsports, and other industries demanding innovation and supply chain reliability. Previously, SHD's UK facility had already commissioned new advanced prepreg and film coating lines. Cambium stated that its total prepreg capacity across global sites has already placed it among the top three worldwide, and this expansion is part of a coordinated effort to scale secure manufacturing capacity in the U.S., UK, and EU, reflecting a broader strategy to build an advanced materials platform and industrial base in the Western world.

Simon Waddington, co-founder and CEO of Cambium, said demand for high-performance advanced materials is accelerating at a pace that traditional supply chains can no longer support, with projects once measured in years now requiring weeks, and that companies redefining defense, aerospace, space, and other high-performance industries need suppliers that can move just as quickly.

Brett Schneider, President of SHD Composites, said speed is not a marketing slogan but is embedded in how the company builds; quadrupling U.S. capacity allows it to serve the fastest-growing industries nearby while maintaining the short lead times and reliable support customers depend on, and that as customers accelerate, the company accelerates too.

Headquartered in El Segundo, California, Cambium focuses on providing advanced composites and specialty materials to defense, aerospace, space, high-performance automotive, and other industries where performance and supply speed are critical. The company integrates AI-driven materials discovery, rapid product development, industrial certification, and flexible manufacturing into a single operating system, aiming to compress the time from invention to qualified production from years to months. Currently, Cambium operates four manufacturing, development, and testing facilities across the U.S., UK, and EU.
