en.Wedoany.com Reported - HBL Engineering Limited has secured a contract from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of onboard KAVACH locomotive equipment (Version 4.0). The project is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2028, and is valued at INR 240 million (excluding 18% Goods and Services Tax).
The contract covers the end-to-end deployment of onboard KAVACH 4.0 equipment, including equipment supply, locomotive installation, testing, and final commissioning. KAVACH is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to enhance railway safety by preventing train collisions, regulating speed, and improving operational efficiency. Version 4.0 represents the latest evolution of this technology, supporting broader deployment across the Indian railway network.
Under the agreement, HBL will execute the project in phases, with the final contract completion date set for March 31, 2028. The execution timeline provides sufficient periods for equipment supply, installation, testing, and commissioning. The success of the project will contribute to expanding the fleet of locomotives equipped with KAVACH 4.0 technology.
Recently, HBL secured another contract valued at INR 17.14 billion from the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), also for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of KAVACH 4.0 equipment, with the order scheduled for completion within 12 months. The latest order further strengthens HBL's ongoing involvement in railway signaling and safety projects, helping to accelerate the deployment of indigenous train protection technology across the Indian railway network.
