This device can replace multiple traditional instruments and perform comprehensive verification without requiring an electric vehicle on site.

The Brazilian electric vehicle market is experiencing rapid growth. According to data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), the country's EV market recorded 38,516 registrations in April, a 161% increase year-over-year. To meet the demand for reliable charging infrastructure, global test and measurement tool manufacturer Fluke has announced the launch of the Fluke FEV500, a device specifically designed for DC fast charging stations.
Previously, deploying electric vehicles specifically for testing charging stations was inefficient and carried certain risks. The Fluke FEV500 enables testing without opening the charging station, performing communication checks and various analyses between the infrastructure and the vehicle through the connector. Product Manager Rodrigo Oliveira stated that the device fully complies with international standards ISO 15118 and DIN SPEC 70121, ensuring precise digital communication between the vehicle and the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). The device integrates with Fluke TruTest™ software, enabling automated recording and simplified management of data collection.
The Fluke FEV500 integrates safety measurement, insulation measurement, low-resistance measurement, and residual voltage measurement functions. Equipped with a CCS1 or CCS2 connector, the device can execute pre-configured test sequences and display immediate pass or fail indications. The system can simulate a real load of up to 2 kW to comprehensively verify charging station performance. This device can replace traditional tools and simulate charging faults to assist in the verification process, while eliminating the need for manual recording of measurement results, reducing working time and human error.
Designed for outdoor environments, the device features a high-visibility touchscreen and step-by-step guidance for ease of operation. The FEV500 uses a rechargeable and removable battery, ensuring complete autonomy in the field. Its ruggedness and ease of operation make it suitable for commercial operators, fleet managers, and maintenance teams.
