According to Lotte Construction, the newly developed module more than doubles the lifespan of existing BIPV modules, which typically last about 20 years, helping residents save on module replacement and maintenance costs while ensuring long-term operational stability and economic efficiency.

This technology is one of the national projects promoted by the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute (KETEP) under the Ministry of Climate and Energy, and was jointly developed by Lotte Construction and Epscore. It has been applied at the Seocho-dong Station Zone Youth Housing construction site in Seoul.

Additionally, Lotte Construction, in collaboration with Lotte EcoWall, has developed a BIPV-specific construction method that requires no additional support frames and can be installed using only fixed brackets, and has obtained a patent registration. Lotte Construction stated that when a BIPV panel malfunctions, this method allows for the removal and replacement of only the specific module without dismantling the entire structure, thereby reducing the risk of safety accidents during high-rise work and improving maintenance convenience.

A Lotte Construction official stated that, amid the trend toward mandatory zero-energy buildings, the company will continue to research and implement technologies that allow residents to experience tangible benefits.
