en.Wedoany.com Reported - A new steam turbine unit has been commissioned at Russia's Novosibirsk CHPP-3 (Новосибирская ТЭЦ-3). The project, implemented by Siberian Generating Company (СГК), is the first in the region completed under the federal Thermal Power Modernization Program (КОММод). According to the press service of System Operator of the Unified Energy System (АО СО ЕЭС), the program aims to extend the service life of power generation equipment.

The new unit replaces equipment commissioned in 1974 that had exhausted its service life. The modernization is based on domestic solutions, utilizing a cogeneration steam turbine from Ural Turbine Works (Уральский турбинный завод) and a generator from the ELSIB plant (завод «ЭЛСИБ») in Novosibirsk Oblast. This approach supports the development of energy machinery manufacturing and import substitution. Further modernization of another steam turbine unit is planned.

Dmitry Makhiboroda (Дмитрий Махиборода), Director of the Novosibirsk Regional Dispatch Office (Новосибирское РДУ), stated that the modernization project has improved the operational reliability of equipment at Novosibirsk CHPP-3, reducing the risk of emergency power outages for consumers. Extending the service life of power generation equipment helps stably meet the growing electricity demand of Novosibirsk city.
