en.Wedoany.com Reported - Heidelberg Materials UK has launched the Power series of products, designed to address heat dissipation issues in underground cables and enhance power transmission efficiency. This product range targets projects such as data centers, battery energy storage, substations, as well as wind and solar farms.

Daniel Clayton, Technical Director of Concrete at Heidelberg Materials UK, pointed out that underground cables may experience increased resistance due to rising temperatures, leading to transmission losses. He emphasized that effective thermal management is crucial for the long-term reliability and resilience of cable networks. The Power series launched by the company includes PowerCrete, PowerSand CBS, and CBS Extra.

PowerCrete is described by the company as a unique and first-to-market high-performance concrete, with a thermal conductivity of 2.5 W/m·K, reportedly the highest thermal conductivity among all commercially available concretes in the UK. PowerSand CBS and CBS Extra are two cement-bound sands that comply with the Energy Networks Association's cable installation backfill material standard ENA TS 97-1. The product range also covers cable backfill, gel bedding materials, and thermally conductive grouts.

The Power series has been applied in several major infrastructure projects in the UK, including Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, National Grid substations, and the Hornsea offshore wind farm.
