Iberdrola awards €30 million in contracts to local suppliers in Spain

Among these, the battery energy storage system (BESS) project contract awarded to Ingeteam amounts to €25 million and will be paired with renewable energy facilities in Spain, while the contract awarded to Ormazabal is close to €5 million and involves two mobile substations. These contracts were discussed at the Executive Committee meeting of the Board of Directors held in Bilbao.

Battery energy storage systems are playing an increasingly important role in the power system. The project entrusted to Ingeteam will help facilitate the larger-scale integration of renewable energy into the grid while providing additional flexibility to the grid.

Ormazabal will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, and supply of two mobile substations. This type of equipment can provide temporary support in scenarios such as grid maintenance, operational incidents, and special power supply requirements, enhancing grid operational capacity and maintaining continuity of supply. This order aligns with Iberdrola's strategic objective of strengthening grid resilience and equipping the grid to cope with increasingly demanding and dynamic operating environments.

Both Ingeteam and Ormazabal possess the relevant technical expertise in key areas driving electrification.
