en.Wedoany.com Reported - Aditya Birla Group has officially launched its wire and cable brand, Ultravolt, operated under its subsidiary UltraTech Cement. The business plans to invest ₹18 billion, with its first manufacturing facility located in Jhagadia, Gujarat, India. The plant commenced commercial production on September 1, with an installed wire manufacturing capacity of 1.098 million kilometers per year. The Group stated that, based on the wire capacity at the time of commissioning, Ultravolt has already become the second-largest producer in this segment in India.

UltraTech had previously earmarked ₹18 billion in capital expenditure for entering the wire and cable sector. Public plans for fiscal year 2025 showed that the company originally intended to build wire and cable manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, proposing an overall planned capacity of 3.5 to 4 million kilometers per year, with production originally scheduled to commence by December 2026. The Jhagadia plant has now advanced commercial production to September, but the officially disclosed 1.098 million kilometers represents the currently installed wire capacity at this stage and cannot be directly equated with the earlier overall planned capacity of 3.5 to 4 million kilometers.

The Jhagadia manufacturing facility employs European production technology and is equipped with E-Beam Pro electron beam processing capabilities. Ultravolt's initial product range covers wires and cables required for residential, commercial buildings, as well as infrastructure and industrial applications. UltraTech has integrated this business into its building products portfolio and plans to leverage its existing sales and distribution network to drive nationwide market coverage.

This commissioning marks the transition of UltraTech's previously announced wire and cable business investment project from the construction phase to the commercial production phase. The company's annual report for fiscal year 2024–2025 had specified a planned investment of ₹18 billion for the project and the establishment of a manufacturing base in Gujarat. As of this announcement, the Jhagadia plant has completed its first-phase capacity construction and officially commenced shipments, with subsequent capacity expansion to continue in line with the company's wire and cable business investment plan.
