en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 20, UK renewable electricity supplier Good Energy signed an offshore wind power purchase agreement with Danish energy company Ørsted to procure electricity from the Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind farms. The offshore wind power agreement has a two-year term, running from October 2026 to October 2028, with a total purchased electricity volume of approximately 400GWh.

Under the agreement, Good Energy will purchase approximately 200GWh of electricity annually, accounting for about one-sixth of the combined generation capacity of Walney 1 and Walney 2. This annual purchased electricity volume can provide green power to over 74,000 UK households. Good Energy stated that this is the company's largest energy supply contract to date and will help increase the proportion of predictable UK-based renewable electricity in its power portfolio.

The Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind farms are located off the coast of Cumbria in northwest England, with a combined installed capacity of 367MW, and have been in operation since 2012. Good Energy has previously purchased electricity from Ørsted's Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm, with an agreement signed in 2023 corresponding to 110GWh of electricity per year. Following the signing of this offshore wind power agreement, Good Energy will further expand its offshore wind power sources. Subsequent implementation priorities will focus on electricity delivery, customer supply portfolio, electricity pricing arrangements, and long-term procurement portfolio management.
