This milestone was reached just seven months after surpassing 5 million tons in December 2025, marking another 1-million-ton increase in a shorter timeframe.

In the first half of the year, the oilfield produced over 870,000 tons of crude oil, achieving 51% of the annual plan. Daily output remained stable at 4,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 20%, contributing nearly one-third of Huabei Oilfield's daily production.

The Hetao Basin features complex reservoir-forming conditions, with the main oilfields having an average burial depth exceeding 5,000 meters, making it the deepest integrated continental clastic rock reservoir in China. Since the first high-yield commercial oil well was drilled in 2018, efficient development has accelerated: the first 1 million tons took 49 months, followed by subsequent 1-million-ton increments reduced to 13, 10, 9, and 8 months respectively. Now, the sixth 1-million-ton milestone has been compressed to just 7 months, demonstrating increasing efficiency and shorter timelines, reflecting a leapfrog growth trend and highlighting continuous improvements in exploration and development capabilities.

Currently, the Hetao Basin, where the Bayan Oilfield is located, remains in the early stages of exploration and development. Proven reserves account for only a portion of the predicted resource potential, leaving significant room for future reserve growth and production increases. According to Huabei Oilfield's plan, the Bayan Oilfield will continue to advance integrated exploration and development, accelerate capacity building in new areas, and strive to establish a million-ton crude oil production base during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. As a key replacement area for Huabei Oilfield's crude oil production growth, the sustained development of the Bayan Oilfield holds positive significance for ensuring regional energy supply.
