en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 21, Oman offshore oil and gas operator Masirah Oil announced that it has commenced operations on the first well of the current infill drilling campaign at the Yumna field in Block 50, with the new well scheduled to come on stream in November 2026. Masirah Oil holds a 100% working interest in the block, with its 87.5% stake indirectly held by Jasmine Energy, a subsidiary of Singapore-listed Rex International. The start of this drilling campaign had been rescheduled several times before formally entering the field implementation phase on October 21.

Masirah Oil (MOL), an indirect subsidiary of the Rex International group, announced that the drilling program for three development wells at the Yumna field offshore Block 50 in Oman is now expected to commence in May.

The Yumna field is located in Block 50 in the Masirah Bay area offshore eastern Oman, covering an area of approximately 17,000 square kilometers. The field achieved first oil in February 2020 and currently produces crude oil through an unmanned offshore production platform, connected to a floating storage and offloading facility for storage and export. This infill drilling targets additional production wells in the existing reservoir to increase recoverable output and sustain field production.

The drilling project was initially planned for three development wells, originally scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026 before being adjusted to May. Masirah Oil announced a further adjustment to the spud date on June 4. In December 2025, Jasmine Energy raised funds through the issuance of USD 25 million in bonds to finance the Yumna field drilling program and related production operations.

In August 2026, Saudi drilling contractor Arabian Drilling signed an Oman offshore drilling services contract with Masirah Oil and Northern Offshore, covering two firm wells and two optional wells. Northern Offshore had previously arranged the "Energy Emerger" jack-up rig for the Yumna field drilling project; the rig had participated in the field's 2024 drilling operations.
