Aggreko Los Angeles Service Center Completes 82 kW Solar System to Achieve 100% Power Supply

This system generates low-carbon electricity to meet the facility's full annual energy demand, marking the first time an Aggreko service center in the United States has achieved 100% annual power supply through renewable energy. The company stated that the Los Angeles service center's transition to a fully renewable, net-zero energy supply is part of its ongoing pursuit of energy sustainability initiatives.

The facility remains connected to the grid and, through the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's net metering tariff program, exports surplus electricity to the local grid during peak sunlight hours, earning retail rate bill credits and achieving financial returns.

Aggreko added that these localized logistics centers serve as both maintenance bases and emergency deployment hubs. When severe weather causes equipment failures or primary system outages, the service centers directly assist infrastructure providers, businesses, and government agencies.

The British company specializes in providing temperature-controlled heavy-duty equipment for heating or cooling environments when permanent systems fail, undergo maintenance, or cannot handle sudden demand surges. Unlike traditional residential HVAC equipment, these machines are designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions and significant heat loads in heavy industrial sectors such as factories and data centers.

In its 2025 sustainability report, Aggreko outlined that it has directly invested over $500 million in low-carbon technologies, temporary solar arrays, hybrid power packs, and battery storage solutions. Currently, 63% of the electricity generated at the company's operational facilities comes from renewable sources.

These on-site solar installations include: the completion of a 100 kW solar facility in St. Louis, Missouri; an 87.3 kW system in Bridgeport, New Jersey; and solar panels installed at the New Orleans site last year, which generate 258 MWh of electricity annually, compared to the building's typical annual consumption of 279 MWh.

For the new 82 kW on-site distributed energy system, it is expected to save the Los Angeles service center $12,630 in utility costs annually. Over the next 20 years, the Los Angeles installation is projected to offset approximately 1,968 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Todd Aston, Vice President of Sustainability for Aggreko North America, stated in a press release that through on-site solar systems, the company can meet customer energy needs while reducing costs and carbon emissions. He added that Aggreko's recent modernization initiatives reflect the company's commitment to advancing engineered power solutions. In 2024, Aggreko signed a multi-year agreement with the Formula E Championship to deploy its advanced battery technology, helping the world championship series reduce emissions by 45% by 2030.
