This engine order is the largest single engine order BOC Aviation has placed with Pratt & Whitney, reflecting the continuation of a 29-year partnership.
The engine order was officially announced during the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow. The Pratt & Whitney PW1100G features geared turbofan technology, reducing fuel consumption by 20% and noise footprint by 75% compared to previous-generation engines. Currently, over 90 customers worldwide operate more than 2,800 aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, with a backlog of over 8,000 engines.
Steven Townend, CEO of BOC Aviation, stated that GTF engines help significantly reduce fuel costs and enhance the operational efficiency of future fleets. Rick Deurloo, President of Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines, noted that this latest order reflects BOC Aviation's continued trust in GTF engines.
The deal comes a day after BOC Aviation announced an order for 300 CFM International Leap engines, including 200 Leap-1A engines for the Airbus A320neo family and 100 Leap-1B engines for the Boeing 737 Max series.
