en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 21, 2026, the engineering plastics units at BASF's integrated sites in Minhang, Shanghai, and Zhanjiang, Guangdong, received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+). This certification system covers renewable and recycled raw materials, verifying their sustainable sourcing and allocation through a mass balance approach, providing independent and traceable assurance across the entire value chain.

This certification enhances BASF's ability to supply ISCC+-certified engineering plastics in the Chinese market, helping customers more confidently advance their sustainability goals. By adopting ISCC+-certified materials, particularly customers in the automotive and electrical and electronics (E&E) industries, they can obtain credible and transparent sustainability claims without compromising product quality and performance.

Mr. Bao Leiwei, Senior Vice President of BASF's Performance Materials business unit in Asia Pacific, stated that the ISCC+ certification for the Shanghai and Zhanjiang units reflects the company's commitment to providing verified low-carbon material solutions at scale. Localized certification helps enhance supply stability, accelerating the green transformation process while ensuring product performance.

This certification is a key initiative for BASF to expand its sustainable product portfolio in the Asia Pacific region. Following South Korea and Malaysia, ISCC+ certification has now covered more production sites in China. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+) is a globally recognized certification system designed to ensure the sustainability, traceability, and integrity of raw materials and products in the supply chain. Currently, approximately 90% of BASF's Performance Materials business unit production sites in Asia Pacific have obtained this certification, including Pasir Gudang in Malaysia, Zhanjiang, Shanghai, Nansha in China, Ansan, Onsan, Yesan, Yeosu, Gimcheon in South Korea, and Changhua in Taiwan, China, covering multiple industries to support customers in achieving their green transformation goals.
