en.Wedoany.com Reported - Data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Friday showed that U.S. crude oil production fell about 2% in May from the record level in April, while crude oil exports hit an all-time high for the second consecutive month.

EIA data showed that U.S. crude oil production averaged 13.71 million barrels per day in May, with exports rising to 5.73 million barrels per day from the previous record of 5.59 million barrels per day.

Rising oil prices dampened consumption. Total U.S. demand for crude oil and petroleum products fell more than 3.5% in May to approximately 20.07 million barrels per day, the lowest level since March 2025.

During the same period, U.S. distillate fuel demand (primarily diesel) fell to 3.57 million barrels per day, the lowest since June 2020.

On the natural gas front, total U.S. natural gas production fell to 134 billion cubic feet per day in May, down from 135.3 billion cubic feet per day in April and below the record level of 136 billion cubic feet per day set in December 2025.

Among the major gas-producing states, Texas production fell 0.8% in May to 38.5 billion cubic feet per day, while Pennsylvania production rose 0.9% to 21.2 billion cubic feet per day. By comparison, Texas production hit a monthly record high of 38.8 billion cubic feet per day in April, while Pennsylvania's monthly production record was 21.9 billion cubic feet per day set in December 2021.
