Petrobras' 225,000-barrel-class P-82 Floating Production Platform Sets Sail

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, Petrobras announced that its P-82 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit set sail on October 18 from the Seatrium Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore, bound for the Búzios field in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, Brazil. The unit has a design crude oil production capacity of 225,000 barrels per day and a natural gas compression capacity of 12 million cubic meters per day. It is scheduled to commence operations in 2027 and will become the tenth production platform at the Búzios field.

The P-82 hull is 345.3 meters long and 60 meters wide, with a total weight exceeding 100,000 tonnes. Some of the unit's production processing modules were manufactured by Seatrium at its Aracruz shipyard in Espírito Santo, Brazil, while the remaining modules were built in China and Singapore respectively, and then shipped to Singapore for final integration. Petrobras adopted an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contracting model for the project, with the contractor responsible for engineering execution and commissioning work prior to delivery of the unit for operations.

Under Petrobras' construction plan, the series of large floating production platforms to which the P-82 belongs adopts a standardized design and batch construction model. Its sister platform, the P-80, departed for the same field on September 30. Once both platforms are in production, they will together add 450,000 barrels per day of design crude oil production capacity. The P-82's natural gas exports will be connected to the Boaventura Energy Complex via the Rota 3 pipeline.

Petrobras serves as the operator of the Búzios field, with CNOOC, China National Petroleum Corporation and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. participating in its development. According to the development plan published by Petrobras, the field is scheduled to have 11 operating platforms by the end of 2027.
