en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, Italy's Eni Group announced that, through Agiba Petroleum Company, a joint venture established with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), it has launched the operational preparation and commissioning of the Meleiha Phase 2 gas project in Egypt's Western Desert. The project is located in the Meleiha Integrated Concession Area, with a newly built gas processing facility designed for a daily processing capacity of 100 million standard cubic feet, supported by development wells, gathering pipelines, and a dedicated gas export pipeline.

The Meleiha Phase 2 project gathers natural gas from newly developed gas fields within the concession area to the processing facility and connects to Egypt's existing natural gas infrastructure via newly built trunk pipelines and a dedicated export pipeline. The project encompasses upstream development wells, production gathering systems, trunk transportation, and gas processing facilities, forming a complete engineering system from gas field development to the export pipeline network.

Agiba Petroleum Company is owned 50/50 by IEOC Production BV, a subsidiary of Eni Group, and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and is responsible for project development and implementation. Among the exploration results in the Meleiha Concession Area announced by Eni Group in April 2022, three oil and gas discoveries have been tied into the production system, adding approximately 8,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day at that time. The discoveries involve three wells—Nada E Deep 1X, Meleiha SE Deep 1X, and Emry Deep 21—which encountered 60 meters, 30 meters, and 35 meters of net pay, respectively.
