en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 16, Peruvian energy company Solgas and transport company Transpesa Group commissioned a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station dedicated to heavy trucks in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad Region. The station is Peru's first dedicated private-use LNG fueling facility for heavy transport fleets, with a total investment of approximately US$2 million, a construction period of less than one year, and a 60-cubic-meter LNG storage tank, providing fuel supply for more than 100 heavy trucks.

The fueling station is located at Transpesa Group's operating base in Trujillo and uses LNG tanker trucks for gas supply, without relying on connection to local natural gas pipelines. The station operates around the clock, and its daily fueling service capacity for heavy vehicles has increased from 70 to 200 vehicles. Operating data published by Transpesa Group shows that the new facility can reduce vehicle fueling time by 50%.

Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines approved on March 4, 2026, Solgas to conduct feasibility testing of the relevant natural gas vehicle supply project in Trujillo, with Transpesa Group's transport fleet as the test subject and the facility involving a mobile LNG vehicle fueling system. After the official commissioning of the fueling station, approximately 50% of Transpesa Group's fleet has adopted LNG fuel, and the company plans to increase this proportion to 60% by the end of 2026.

Solgas is planning 14 LNG fueling stations along Peru's main logistics and transport routes, of which 12 are planned to be open to public vehicles. The company proposes to gradually put these stations into operation before the end of 2026. Peru currently has more than 500 LNG-powered heavy trucks, operating on routes covering logistics and mining freight corridors.
