ExxonMobil Drills Rockhead-1 Prospect in Guyana's Stabroek Block

en.Wedoany.com Reported - ExxonMobil has commenced exploration drilling operations at the Rockhead-1 prospect in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana. The operations are being carried out by the drilling vessel Stena Carron, and according to a recent notice issued by the Maritime Administration (MARAD), drilling is expected to be completed by August 31.

The notice indicates that Rockhead-1 is located approximately 115.2 nautical miles (213.4 kilometers) off the coast of Guyana, covering an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer). ExxonMobil has confirmed that the prospect is targeting oil, while noting that fluid properties are often difficult to predict prior to drilling.

ExxonMobil, as operator of the Stabroek Block, holds a 45% interest, with partners including Hess (a Chevron subsidiary) and CNOOC. To date, operators have discovered 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent in the block, with discoveries primarily concentrated in the southeastern portion of the block.
