en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bensaude Group (Grupo Bensaude), a private company in the Azores, recently announced that the general cargo vessel AÇOR B has entered service to strengthen the region's logistics capacity and regular supply security. The vessel is operated by Mutuaista Açoreana, a Portuguese maritime transport and cargo company.

AÇOR B was built in Germany and completed outfitting and re-certification at the Besiktas shipyard in Turkey. The vessel has an overall length of 126 meters and a service speed of 18.5 knots, with performance parameters that meet the requirements of inter-island shipping services on Azores routes.

The vessel is equipped with two 40-ton cranes and has a capacity of 712 TEU, including 156 reefer plug positions. The hull features silicone-based coating, which Bensaude Group states helps reduce fuel consumption and improve energy and operational efficiency.

Since July, AÇOR B has been operating regular services on the Azores maritime routes, connecting Ponta Delgada and Praia da Vitória on the Azores side with Lisbon (Lisboa) and Leixões on the mainland, with alternating weekly calls.

Bensaude Group stated that the vessel's operation will increase cargo capacity and schedule stability, enhance the predictability of maritime transport, strengthen island supply, and boost the competitiveness of Azorean businesses.
