Wedoany.com Report-Jun 4, Air Liquide S.A. will invest approximately €70 million to build, own, and operate a new industrial gas production facility in Singapore. The plant will supply ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and other gases to VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC), a joint venture between Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP Semiconductors N.V.

The facility is part of Air Liquide’s Carrier Gas solution and will feature advanced technology aimed at delivering ultra-high-purity gases with an efficient footprint and optimized energy performance. This is expected to improve both the reliability and sustainability of VSMC’s semiconductor manufacturing operations.

The new production plant will be strategically located within the Tampines Wafer Fab Park, one of Singapore’s key wafer fabrication hubs. The location enhances its proximity to major semiconductor players and supports the country’s role as a major center in the global semiconductor industry. The sector contributes over 20% to Singapore’s manufacturing output, underscoring the importance of this investment in supporting the nation’s industrial development.

Construction is scheduled for completion by 2026. Once operational, the plant will strengthen Air Liquide’s infrastructure and presence in Southeast Asia while addressing rising demand in the region’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem. This move is aligned with Air Liquide’s ongoing strategy to increase investment in major semiconductor markets around the world, especially in response to the growing demand for energy-efficient microchips.

Ronnie Chalmers, Air Liquide Group Vice President Supervising Asia Pacific, stated: “We are proud to support VSMC with our technologically advanced, sustainable and efficient solutions. This agreement underscores our commitment to innovating and providing value to our customers, and reinforces our position as a technology leader in the Electronics industry, fully aligned with our strategic plan ADVANCE.”

Air Liquide’s latest investment reflects its continued focus on serving the evolving needs of semiconductor manufacturers by offering high-performance gas solutions. The plant’s design will also contribute to environmental goals through its emphasis on best-in-class energy efficiency, aligning with the group’s broader sustainability objectives.

Through this partnership, Air Liquide aims to further consolidate its role as a key enabler in the semiconductor value chain in Asia, contributing to the long-term success of its partners and the broader industry in the region.
