en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the aviation power battery system developed by CATL for the passenger-carrying eVTOL successfully passed the verification of no thermal runaway propagation from two adjacent cells. This is the world's first aviation power battery system using prismatic cells with an energy density of up to 350Wh/kg to pass the test.

During this test, two adjacent cells were triggered simultaneously at different positions, including the center and corners, ultimately achieving no thermal propagation. This technological breakthrough and successful verification will provide safer power assurance for the development of the low-altitude economy, serving as further evidence of CATL's continuous exploration of the safety boundaries of power batteries.
The production, inspection, and testing of the cells and battery system were completed throughout under the witness of the designated representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, laying a solid foundation for helping eVTOL aircraft meet civil aviation safety standards.
This aviation battery system is already capable of mass production and will be first applied to the Fengfei eVTOL passenger aircraft.
