The newly constructed main line spans approximately 171 kilometers with a design speed of 350 km/h. Upon opening, the travel time between Xi'an and Ankang will be reduced from the current approximately 3 hours to under 1 hour.
The Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway extends southward from Xi'an East Station, crosses the Chan River and traverses the Qinling Mountains, passing through Zhashui, Zhen'an, and Xunyang before connecting to Ankang West Station. The line comprises six stations: Xi'an East, Niubeiliang, Zhashui West, Zhen'an West, Tongmu, and Ankang West. This railway is a key component of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Beihai Corridor and the Beijing-Kunming Corridor within China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network.
The project transitioned to static acceptance in April this year, after which railway authorities conducted inspections and verifications on track, subgrade, bridges, tunnels, power supply, communication, signaling, and station buildings. On June 27, the Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway entered the integrated commissioning and testing phase, commencing comprehensive testing, validation, and adjustment of the line's various systems and interface compatibility.
On July 10, the line initiated speed increase tests at the maximum test speed level. After undergoing tests at multiple speed levels, the high-speed comprehensive inspection train reached a test target speed of 385 km/h, equivalent to 110% of the line's design speed. The testing scope covered track, overhead contact system, communication, and signaling systems, aimed at verifying the operational stability and compatibility of line equipment under high-speed conditions.
On July 25, the Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway launched full-line through testing. Railway authorities adopted a coordinated operation approach involving comprehensive inspection trains and confirmation trains to conduct full-line integrated verification of track, power supply, overhead contact system, signaling, and communication systems. Among these, the confirmation train performed pre-inspection duties, while the comprehensive inspection train completed mainline operation and data collection as scheduled.
With the conclusion of integrated commissioning and testing, the verification focus of the Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway has shifted to operational organization. During the trial operation phase, train operations will be organized according to the train working diagram to test transportation organization, traffic dispatching, and station services, preparing for subsequent commercial operation.
