This is the largest and highest-torque motor in AEM's established HDRM series to date, and it will make its public debut at the Hanover trade show. Visitors will be able to view a detailed 3D concept of the motor, gaining early insight into the advancements of its next-generation heavy-duty platform ahead of the first sample deliveries in Q3 2027.
The launch of Titan marks the next step forward in AEM's commercial vehicle strategy and continues the company's trajectory of expanding its rare-earth-free product portfolio. This development is supported by the recently announced £16 million commercial investment aimed at accelerating the development of electric powertrain technology. Engineered specifically for heavy-duty commercial applications, the motor builds on the success of the established HDRM series, delivering significantly higher torque to meet the demands of larger powertrains.
Alongside Titan, AEM will also showcase its newly launched integrated air-cooled electric drive system. This system combines AEM's smallest HDRM150 motor with a matched air-cooled inverter, delivered as a plug-and-play solution with an operating voltage of up to 700V and a peak motor output exceeding 30kW. The system made its debut earlier this year at iVT Expo, and its rare-earth-free design eliminates the need for liquid cooling infrastructure. By removing the coolant circuit, water pump, and associated piping, this powertrain offers OEMs a simpler, lighter, and more robust solution that is easier to integrate and maintain in demanding off-highway auxiliary applications.
James Widmer, CEO of AEM, stated that Titan represents a significant advancement in heavy-duty electrification, building on a platform that the company's customers already know and trust. Combined with the integrated air-cooled powertrain, AEM continues to develop industry-leading technologies that simplify electrification and ensure supply chain security by eliminating reliance on rare-earth elements. Widmer also noted that IAA Transportation, as the gathering point for the global commercial vehicle industry, is the ideal stage to introduce the latest iteration of HDRM motor technology. In the two years since the last edition of the show, the company has firmly established itself as a major automotive supplier, expanded its global footprint, strengthened its product portfolio, and secured numerous contracts with several large multinational corporations.
Visitors will also be able to see AEM's technology at the SAF-HOLLAND booth. The company's TRAKr electric drive axle integrates an HDRM150 rare-earth-free motor, used as a generator for regenerative energy recovery. The trade show will provide an opportunity for both companies to showcase the continued progress of their partnership and their role in advancing electric commercial vehicle technology.
IAA Transportation 2026 will take place from September 15 to 20. AEM's booth is located at B40 in Hall 12, where visitors can learn about the company's latest technologies and engage with its product experts.
