Brazilian Federal Prosecution Service reaches agreement to resume Arapongas ring road, with a budget of R$ 270 million
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian Federal Prosecution Service (Ministério Público Federal, MPF) has reached a new agreement with parties in the state of Paraná to resume and complete the Arapongas ring road project on Highway BR-369. The project, with a budget of R$ 270 million, will be carried out by the concessionaire Rodovias Integradas do Paraná (Viapar), with the Paraná state government and the State Highway Department (Departamento de Estradas de Rodagem do Paraná, DER/PR) responsible for necessary compensation and land expropriation.

The agreement was approved on Wednesday (19th) by the Federal Court of Paraná. Under the agreement, Viapar must submit a detailed project schedule within 15 days and a revised detailed design (projeto executivo) within 120 days. Within 30 days after DER/PR approves the detailed design, construction mobilization must begin. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months after the detailed design is approved.
The Arapongas ring road spans 10 kilometers, featuring dual carriageways, shoulders, and 6 overpasses. The project was originally part of a concession contract signed in 1997 but remained unimplemented for a long period. In 2021, MPF, Viapar, the Paraná state government, and DER/PR reached an agreement to advance ring road construction in three cities in the northern part of the state. The projects in Peabiru and Jandaia do Sul have been completed, while the Arapongas project stalled due to issues related to compensation and land expropriation, until this new agreement was reached.
