Wedoany.com Report-Jun 11, Equinor and Polenergia have submitted a pre-qualification application to Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office for the Bałtyk 1 offshore wind farm, aiming to participate in the country’s first offshore wind auction on December 17, 2025. This submission marks the initial application for the 2025 auction, a significant step in Poland’s renewable energy development.

The Bałtyk 1 project, with a capacity of up to 1,560 MW, is the largest offshore wind initiative in Poland, part of the second phase of the nation’s offshore wind development. Located on the Central Bank, approximately 81 km from the coast, the wind farm will feature up to 104 turbines, capable of supplying clean energy to around 2 million Polish households.

Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, Equinor’s country manager for Poland, stated: “This is a true milestone not just for our teams, but for Poland’s energy security and the ongoing transformation of the energy system. The President of URE has officially announced the first auction for offshore wind in Poland, opening a brand new chapter in our country’s energy history. Bałtyk 1 is ready to compete in this groundbreaking process, paving the way for the most effective offshore projects to shape our future energy mix.”

The auction, scheduled for December 17, 2025, requires projects to pass a pre-qualification process overseen by the Energy Regulatory Office to ensure eligibility. Bałtyk 1 is the third offshore wind project developed by Equinor and Polenergia in the Polish Baltic Sea, alongside Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3, which have already secured final investment decisions. Together, these three projects represent a combined capacity of 3 GW, contributing significantly to Poland’s renewable energy goals.

The Bałtyk 1 wind farm is designed to deliver sustainable energy, supporting the transition to cleaner power sources. Its strategic location and substantial capacity position it as a key contributor to Poland’s energy landscape, enhancing access to reliable, green electricity for millions of households.

Equinor and Polenergia’s collaboration on Bałtyk 1 reflects their commitment to advancing offshore wind technology in Poland. By participating in the upcoming auction, the companies aim to secure a role in shaping the nation’s energy future while promoting sustainable development through renewable energy initiatives.
