en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 20, the Jianning West Road River-Crossing Passage Project (Phase I) in Nanjing was opened to traffic, constructed with the participation of China Railway Seventh Group and China Railway Tunnel Group under China Railway.

This river-crossing passage, located close to the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, has been designated as a major cross-river project in Nanjing's "14th Five-Year Plan." The main line has a total length of approximately 6.8 kilometers, designed as a two-way six-lane road with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. It connects Jiangbei Avenue in the north and reaches Jianning West Road in the main urban area in the south. The core section of the tunnel is a 15.07-meter super-large-diameter shield tunnel beneath the Yangtze River, passing under Yifengmen City Wall, with multiple underground interchanges along the route to divert traffic from the Yangtze River Bridge and link the road networks of Jiangbei and the urban area.

During construction, the project team integrated the "smart construction site" system on-site and equipped it with welding fume collectors to strengthen civilized construction and air pollution prevention. Relying on automated monitoring and supervision platforms, the contractor adopted advanced water-stop curtain techniques and intelligent dewatering systems, strictly implementing the "three-inspection system" and "standby supervision system" to prevent foundation pit leakage and deformation risks, while also addressing technical challenges such as mass concrete construction and concrete crack resistance.

After the Jianning West Road River-Crossing Passage opens to traffic, it will effectively alleviate the pressure of river-crossing traffic in Nanjing, reduce congestion during peak hours, and improve traffic efficiency. At the same time, it will further improve Nanjing's urban expressway network system and promote coordinated regional development.
