The hospital expansion was designed to alleviate pressure on major regional hospitals. As the number of healthcare staff and patient capacity grows, modern medical services have become increasingly reliant on high-performance digital infrastructure. However, the building materials used in the expansion significantly obstruct cellular signals, resulting in unstable mobile reception across the new facility and directly impacting staff communication and daily operations.

Following a detailed on-site assessment, the hospital decided to adopt the Nextivity Quatra 4000e as the solution. This multi-operator active DAS hybrid system is designed for large indoor environments and delivers balanced 5G, 4G, and 3G coverage.

The system comprises 1 network unit (NU), 5 coverage units (CUs), and 16 antennas. The network unit serves as the system front end, receiving donor signals from the air via a high-gain outdoor antenna; the coverage units are distributed via fiber-optic cabling to ensure signal integrity throughout the hospital's interior; and the 16 antennas are deployed in clinical and public areas to eliminate dead zones. Pre-installation measurements confirmed that the macro coverage signals from all three operators were sufficiently strong to be effectively amplified and distributed by the Quatra hardware.

Two major challenges had to be overcome during installation. First, the initially selected location for the network unit was severely space-constrained due to existing hospital utilities; after coordination with relevant parties, installers relocated it to an alternative position that met all technical requirements without impacting critical hospital cabling. Second, the work had to maintain fire safety rating integrity. The installers collaborated with the hospital and a specialized firestop contractor to seal every core hole and cable penetration point in accordance with applicable safety codes, achieving professional certification.

After commissioning, connectivity within the hospital changed markedly. Users of all three major operators now experience full signal strength and seamless coverage throughout the facility; the network supports 5G, providing infrastructure support for current and future medical technologies; and reliable communication for healthcare staff has been ensured, contributing to improved patient care. The healthcare facility expressed high satisfaction with the deployment results and considers the network connectivity to have met the stringent requirements of the expanded regional hospital.
