Saudi Ports Authority Extends Storage Fee Grace Period for Two Eastern Ports by 90 Days to November 2

According to a statement posted by Mawani on platform X, the storage fee grace period for King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Jubail Commercial Port has been extended by 90 days, with the new deadline set for November 2. This extension covers containers, trailers, standard containers, and dangerous goods; the grace period for empty container imports has been extended to 20 days.

Previously, in May, Mawani implemented adjustments to storage fee exemptions at certain ports, setting a 15-day storage fee exemption period for transshipment cargo for two months, covering transshipment cargo at Jeddah Islamic Port, as well as general cargo and roll-on/roll-off cargo at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, Yanbu Commercial Port, and Port of Neom.

The extension of the grace period means importers can keep cargo at the ports without paying storage fees. Against the backdrop of shipping disruptions leading to longer transit times and less predictable customs clearance, this measure helps avoid congestion adding further burdens to importers' already high freight rates and war risk costs. Meanwhile, as trade flows shift within Saudi Arabia, this exemption also provides Mawani with greater operational flexibility in managing the eastern ports.
