COLI completes transport of 14 Baltica 2 project transformers from Türkiye to Poland
en.Wedoany.com Reported - COLI Group has completed the delivery of 14 large power transformers from Türkiye to Poland, with the equipment arriving at the onshore site of the Baltica 2 offshore wind project. The transport spanned six months, with cargo shipped in three voyages aboard three chartered vessels.

The 14 transformers were collected from GE Vernova's facility in Türkiye and loaded at Derince Safiport. Of these, 10 units weighing between 110 and 170 tonnes each were discharged at the Port of Gdynia and transported by road to the project site; the remaining 4 units, weighing 361 tonnes each, were transported by barge to the Port of Władysławowo, where roll-on/roll-off operations were completed and a temporary storage yard was established.
The road transport posed multiple engineering challenges. Several bridges along the route could not bear the cargo weight, so temporary trestle bridges were erected over existing bridges to allow convoy passage. The transport was carried out under winter conditions, with temperatures as low as -15°C, requiring coordination with multiple Polish authorities. A total of five road convoys were required, using self-propelled modular transporters and hydraulic axle lines, with each convoy accompanied by 5 to 8 pilot vehicles.
Baltica 2 is a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm being developed by PGE Group and Ørsted in the Polish Baltic Sea, scheduled for commissioning in 2027, and will feature 107 wind turbines. This batch of transformers forms part of the project's onshore infrastructure, used to connect the wind farm to the Polish power grid.
