Titan and Sogestran Sign Agreement for 6,000 m³ LNG Bunkering Vessel
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 1, Titan Clean Fuels (part of the Molgas Group) signed a long-term agreement with shipowner Sogestran Group covering the construction, charter, and operation of a new 6,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel (LNGBV). The vessel's construction contract was finalized in August 2026, following a letter of intent signed by both parties in June during the Posidonia maritime exhibition.
The vessel was jointly developed and designed by the Titan and Sogestran teams, tailored to the navigation, operational, and commercial characteristics of Western Mediterranean ports, LNG transshipment terminals, and vessels receiving bunkers at port. The vessel features a low air draft design, enabling direct LNG bunkering of cruise ships without the need for a pontoon. The vessel itself will be fueled by LNG/LBM.
The vessel will be built by CIMC SOE (CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering), a specialized shipyard focused on small and medium-sized gas carriers. Titan plans to deploy the vessel across the Western Mediterranean, loading LNG from a range of terminals in the region and providing LNG and LBM (liquefied biomethane) bunkering as well as gas cooling services to various LNG-powered vessels at major ports including Fos-Marseille, Barcelona, and Genoa.
The vessel will join the Molgas Group's fleet of eight LNG bunkering vessels operating in Northern Europe, six of which belong to the Titan fleet and two operated by Molgas Norway. This project expands the Molgas Group's services in the Western Mediterranean from existing truck-to-ship bunkering and onshore downstream LNG distribution to ship-to-ship LNG/LBM bunkering. The Mediterranean became a sulfur oxide and particulate matter emission control area (ECA) on May 1, 2025.
Grégoire Hartig, Commercial Director at Titan, stated that LNG and LBM have proven to be leading alternative fuels in the shipping industry's energy transition. Benoist Grosjean, Managing Director of Sogestran Shipping, stated that through in-house engineering capabilities and close collaboration with Titan's technical team, a customized vessel fully suited to Western Mediterranean operational requirements has been designed. The charter duration, vessel price, and delivery date have not been disclosed.
