K-RIDE signs MoU with ICF for 51 trainsets worth Rs 1,565 crore

en.Wedoany.com Reported - K-RIDE (Bi-RIDE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, on September 1 at the ICF Chennai facility, to manufacture and supply 51 three-coach trainsets for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP). The contract is valued at Rs 1,565 crore. K-RIDE Managing Director Lakshman Singh and ICF General Manager Manish Agarwal attended the signing ceremony.

As per the MoU, ICF will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, inspection, testing, and commissioning of the trainsets. The scope of work also includes obtaining statutory approvals from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), system integration, and meeting RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) requirements.

The trains are 25 kV 50 Hz electric multiple units, each with a three-coach configuration, measuring 63 meters in length, with a passenger capacity of 1,052 and a maximum speed of 85 km/h. The trains are air-conditioned, broad-gauge metro-type coaches and will be deployed on Corridor 2 and Corridor 4 of the BSRP.

The BSRP spans 148.17 km with a total investment of Rs 15,767 crore, and this rolling stock contract of Rs 1,565 crore accounts for approximately 10% of the total investment. The 51 trainsets represent the entire rolling stock requirement for Phase I of the project.
