en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 1, logistics technology company Descartes Systems Group completed its acquisition of Extensiv, a provider of warehouse management and fulfillment software, for approximately $120 million, fully funded from existing cash reserves. Extensiv primarily offers warehouse and fulfillment solutions to third-party logistics (3PL) companies and the brands they serve. The business covered by this transaction includes warehouse management, inventory management, order processing, and e-commerce fulfillment.

Extensiv's software connects sales channels, e-commerce platforms, online marketplaces, and carriers, enabling unified handling of inventory, orders, B2B and B2C fulfillment, and customer billing. Its core product, 3PL Warehouse Manager, is a cloud-based warehouse management system featuring inventory and order management, automated billing, customer portals, barcode scanning, EDI, reporting and analytics, as well as integrations with shopping platforms and carriers. According to information released by Extensiv, the system is currently used by more than 1,500 third-party logistics companies.

Following this acquisition, Extensiv's warehouse, inventory, and omnichannel fulfillment capabilities will be integrated into Descartes' existing logistics technology framework. The Extensiv platform also encompasses products such as Warehouse Management, Order Management, and Integration Manager, where the order management system handles order routing, demand forecasting, and connectivity across multiple sales channels, while Integration Manager connects various e-commerce and order management applications.

This marks Descartes' second major logistics software acquisition within a week. On August 24, the company acquired transportation management software firm Tai for approximately $100 million in cash, which provides AI-driven transportation management platforms primarily for freight brokers, covering full truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage, and cross-border transportation operations. Together, these two transactions bring 3PL warehousing and e-commerce fulfillment, as well as freight brokerage transportation management software, into Descartes' business portfolio.
