en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, LG Chem announced a strategic partnership with Hunan Kejing New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kejing New Energy") and the establishment of a joint laboratory. Accordingly, the two parties will formally join forces to strengthen in-depth cooperation in the field of carbon nanotube (CNT) production technology and accelerate the expansion of the global lithium battery innovative materials market. Byun Ki-dae, FS General Manager of LG Chem's HPM Business Division, Kim Dong-cheol, Head of LG Chem's Petrochemical & Global CS Center, and Chen Jun, General Manager of Kejing New Energy, attended the signing and unveiling ceremony.

Through the establishment of the joint laboratory, the two parties will focus on next-generation battery conductive agents, jointly develop Hybrid CNT materials, and accelerate the application and commercialization of technological achievements. Leveraging LG Chem's deep technical expertise accumulated in the CNT materials field and Kejing New Energy's leading medium-temperature purification process, the two parties will collaboratively advance the innovative iteration and commercialization of CNT, creating comprehensive battery material solutions with differentiated competitiveness.

Currently, the new energy and energy storage markets have a continuously rising demand for batteries with high conductivity and high energy density. Taking this as an opportunity, the two parties will build a trinity industry chain collaboration model of "material R&D - localization of purification/dispersion technology - third-party verification," precisely responding to customers' upgrading needs for high-purity, high-performance CNT materials and continuously exploring new development opportunities in the high-end battery market.

As a new-generation high-efficiency conductive agent, CNT possesses electrical and thermal conductivity comparable to copper and diamond, with a stiffness 100 times that of steel. Even with a small addition amount, it can maintain excellent conductive performance, and is widely used in multiple fields such as batteries, semiconductors, automotive interior and exterior trim, and aviation.

LG Chem holds more than 550 CNT-related patents and has developed high-conductivity, highly dispersible CNT materials. With its independently developed cobalt-based catalyst, it has reduced the content of magnetic foreign matter that affects battery quality, effectively achieving high capacity, high energy density, and high power density for batteries.

The establishment of this joint laboratory is another important starting point for LG Chem to continuously deepen its presence in China's carbon nanotube market with high-value materials as its core. Through this cooperation, the two parties will target the lithium battery materials sector in China and globally, further enhancing technological competitiveness and comprehensively deepening strategic synergies, jointly shaping a new landscape for the lithium battery innovative materials industry.
