India's SPML Infra 104.4 kWh Battery Pack Completes International Standard Testing
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, India's SPML Infra announced that its independently developed 104.4 kWh battery pack has completed multiple international safety, performance, and transportation-related testing requirements, covering UL 9540A, IEC 62619, IEC 63056, IEC 60730, IEC 61000-6-2, IEC 61000-6-4, and UN 38.3.

Among these, the UL 9540A test corresponds to thermal runaway and fire propagation evaluation for battery energy storage systems; IEC 62619 and IEC 63056 cover safety requirements for lithium batteries in industrial and energy storage applications, IEC 60730 covers functional safety for automatic controls, IEC 61000-6-2 and IEC 61000-6-4 cover electromagnetic compatibility immunity and emission requirements in industrial environments, and UN 38.3 is used for lithium battery transportation safety testing. SPML disclosed that this round of testing covered both the battery pack and system levels.
SPML is building battery energy storage manufacturing and system integration capabilities in Pune, Maharashtra, with business scope including battery pack assembly, engineering design, system integration, and execution of large-scale energy storage projects. The 104.4 kWh battery pack will be incorporated into this manufacturing and integration system as one of the company's products advancing the commercialization of its own energy storage products.
SPML has secured large-scale energy storage project orders this year. On May 6, the company obtained a 1 GWh battery energy storage system contract for a project under NTPC, with a contract value of 11.28 billion rupees. This project is not the same product delivery milestone as the 104.4 kWh battery pack, but it forms part of SPML's current energy storage system integration and project execution business.
After this 104.4 kWh product completed international testing, SPML's next phase will continue to advance the commercialization of its energy storage technology and manufacturing platform. Currently available public information has not yet disclosed the battery cell chemistry system, single cell capacity, series-parallel configuration, rated voltage, charge-discharge rate, cycle life, thermal management method, or the first commercial orders and mass production timeline for this battery pack.
