Bechtel Group of Germany Partners with CDE to Build Mineral Wet Processing Plant

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 11, Bechtel Group of Germany announced the construction of a new mineral wet processing plant at its Wallbach site in Bad Säckingen, Baden-Württemberg, and selected CDE as the project's technology partner. The new facility will be built alongside the existing mineral processing infrastructure and will use wet washing, classification, and dewatering processes to handle different types of mineral raw materials, further expanding the mineral building materials processing capacity at the Wallbach site.

CDE will design the wet processing solution based on the existing production conditions and material characteristics at the Wallbach site, with the scope of work covering the design and engineering of the processing system as well as subsequent equipment installation. The project is not a standalone new mine, but rather an addition of wet processing capacity to Bechtel Group's existing mineral building materials production base, and the new system will operate alongside the original processing facilities.

The newly added process focuses on three stages of mineral raw material processing: washing, particle size separation, and dewatering. Washing is used to remove fine mud and impurities from the raw materials, the classification stage separates materials of different particle sizes, and the dewatering system further reduces the moisture content of the processed mineral products. CDE stated that the solution is customized to meet the needs of the Wallbach site and is capable of handling multiple mineral material streams rather than a single raw material.

Bechtel Group's main business is the extraction, processing, and supply of mineral building materials, and the Wallbach site serves the building materials markets of the Upper Rhine region of Germany, the southern Black Forest, and northwestern Switzerland. This project integrates wet processing into the existing production system, adding washing and fine classification capabilities to the site's existing mineral raw material processing.

CDE is currently advancing the project engineering design and implementation preparation, with subsequent milestones including the manufacturing of the wet processing system, delivery to the Wallbach site, on-site installation, and commissioning.
